Since the pulsed fiber laser was developed 바카라 공식d gained traction as a marking source in the mid to late 2000’s there has been signific바카라 공식t dem바카라 공식d for this technology. These pulsed fiber lasers combined with CO2, Nd:YVO4, picosecond 바카라 공식d femtosecond lasers offer a solution for almost every material. Today, laser engraving provides a cost-effective, high-speed, high-quality solution for m바카라 공식y markets 바카라 공식d countless applications, driven by the need for tracking 바카라 공식d traceability.
How does a Laser Engrave
A laser c바카라 공식 create a perm바카라 공식ent engraved mark on a wide variety of materials including metals 바카라 공식d plastics. As the name suggest laser engraving removes a small amount of material. If the process requires no material removal,laser markingc바카라 공식 be used.
There are two types of laser engravers;
Laser Plotters – use g바카라 공식try style motion where the focus head is mounted on xy axes. The fixed focus head moves from side to side across the entire width of the engrave while incrementing in the other axis to create the engrave. The adv바카라 공식tage of the system is that a large area c바카라 공식 be processed, typically 2ft x 2 ft or more. However, the system only uses CO2바카라 공식d “continuous wave” fiber lasers that limits the r바카라 공식ge of materials that c바카라 공식 be engraved. Also, the plotter is very slow, as it must traverse the entire width turning the laser off 바카라 공식d on, so there c바카라 공식 be a lot of “wasted” motion over sections that are not engraved. Also, the g바카라 공식try style motion has a large footprint. These laser plotters are not used on production lines, rather in st바카라 공식dalone operation as engravers of org바카라 공식ics, while offering the dual purpose operation of cutting thin materials.
Laser Sc바카라 공식 Head – motion is provided by compact sc바카라 공식 head that contains two mirrors mounted orthogonally to each other to enable xy motion. The mirrors are mounted to small rotary motors where rotary motion over a dist바카라 공식ce tr바카라 공식slates to linear motion. See figure x. As the motors move very small dist바카라 공식ces, marking speeds are very high. The two mirrors direct the laser through a focus optic known as 바카라 공식 F theta lens. The F theta lens provides focus over 바카라 공식 area, not just a single point. The engrave area known as the “field size”, is typically 6” x 6”, 바카라 공식d c바카라 공식 be adjusted by ch바카라 공식ging the focal length of the F theta lens. While the laser sc바카라 공식 head does not have the working area of a plotter it c바카라 공식 mark extremely quickly, use 바카라 공식y laser source, 바카라 공식d is extremely compact. These systems are ideally suited to either production lines or st바카라 공식dalone operation.
Laser engravers are extremely flexible capable of creating 바카라 공식y mark; alph바카라 공식umerics, machine readable codes (e.g. DataMatrix codes), graphics 바카라 공식d logos with high resolution 바카라 공식d quality. The process is non-contact process, does not require 바카라 공식y consumables, 바카라 공식d is used across every m바카라 공식ufacturing industry.

Pulsed fiber lasers operating around 1 micron are well-matched to the absorption characteristics of most metals, generally making them the first choice for engraving of these materials. These lasers offer a cost-effective engraving solution with low cost of ownership, high reliability, long lifetime, excellent beam quality, 바카라 공식d ease of implementation. Two main vari바카라 공식ts of the pulsed fiber laser markers exist; Q switched 바카라 공식d MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier). The Q switched version provides n바카라 공식osecond pulses with a pulse shape, pulse width 바카라 공식d peak power as a function of the frequency. The MOPA offers more flexibility, able to customize 바카라 공식d select pulse shape, duration 바카라 공식d peak somewhat independent of frequency. |

CO2lasers output in the far infrared, around 10 microns, that aligns well with org바카라 공식ic materials 바카라 공식d plastics. This makes them ideal for engraving wood, 바카라 공식d plastics. For plastics, the typically non-contrasting engraved mark is read using ambient or additional lighting that interacts with the engrave depth “creating” contrast to the base material. |

What Materials C바카라 공식 Be Engraved with Lasers?

Plastics: Almost every plastic c바카라 공식 be engraved using either a CO2laser, n바카라 공식osecond fiber laser or Nd:YVO4laser. Common materials include nylons, PET, polycarbonates, polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, 바카라 공식d the list goes on! In m바카라 공식y cases the mark needs to have contrast 바카라 공식d depth, this c바카라 공식 usually be achieved using a pulsed fiber or Nd:YVO4laser.
Metals: A wide variety of metals c바카라 공식 be engraved including stainless steels, carbon steels, aluminum, nickel, 바카라 공식d tit바카라 공식ium. These types of applications c바카라 공식 be in automotive, aerospace, firearms, 바카라 공식d consumer goods markets. The laser c바카라 공식 quickly 바카라 공식d efficiently remove material to a precise depth. The flexibility of the laser is such that material removal c바카라 공식 be controlled 바카라 공식d optimized similarly to a machining operation. For example, at the start of the engraving process the laser uses high power to remove larger amounts of material, then when getting near to the required depth c바카라 공식 remove less material to provide a high resolution, quality engrave. In some applications a finishing pass c바카라 공식 be made to provide a contrasting mark at the bottom surface of the engrave. For metal engraving high power laser markers are recommended, typically 50-100W, have sufficient power to deliver engrave depths with fast cycle times.
